Equality in a mosh pit.

Forgive me for being philosophical here, but this is something that has been on my mind for a few days. Saturday, I went and saw I See Stars, Motionless in White, Trivium, and Asking Alexandria’s concert. If you’ve never been to a hardcore show, they get pretty crazy. Well, there was about 6 billion mosh pits at any given time, and I freaking love to mosh. (needless to say I’m covered in bruises) As I was being thrashed around and finally reached the edge of the pit where my friend was waiting for me, I looked at the people inside. And I realized that there was every age group and gender and race in that pit; from the 45 year old man with a scragly beard to 20 year old African American kid to the 16 year old girl, every faction of society was represented there. No one was getting thrashed around more than the next person, and whenever someone fell, at least 3 people were there to pick them up. (I know, I was one of them… twice) No one cared how much money you have, or your gender, or your race. It doesn’t matter if you’re Richie Rich or Little Orphan Annie; if you enter the pit, you’re getting thrashed around. But if you fall, people are there to pic you up again. Ironically, a place of pure violence shows the most tolerance I’ve ever seen.
